Have you been driving powerboat launches for some time?
Have you not driven in a long time but are being asked to?
Did you pass you Powerboat level 2 when real man overboards were used?

This is the course for you!!

This 1 day refresher will look at your current skills and help you update them in line with best current practise.

This is also the course for you if you have been driving powerboats for some time but not got the recognised RYA qualification, we will assess your skills and if possible and your skills are up to the correct level we will issue a RYA Level 2 certificate.

What does this course cover?

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 is a popular two-day practical course. With no prior experience needed you can quickly become a confident and certified powerboat driver however if you already have experience in driving powerboats and launches this is a condensed 1 day assessment of your skills.

The course covers the skills and background knowledge needed to drive a powerboat confidently and unsupervised.

The course focuses on low-speed close-quarter handling, coming alongside, mooring on a buoy, man overboard recovery as well as an introduction to driving at planing speed plus collision regulations.

After the course you will be capable of driving a powerboat safely, aware of your own limitations and those of the boat.

Course Format:
The one-day course runs 9.30am – 5.00pm. It is run with a minimum of 2 students + instructor and a maximum of 3 students, to ensure you have plenty of opportunity to practice driving. The certificate is based on continual assessment, so there are no exams.

Assumed knowledge:  Experience and skills at a Level 2 standard
Minimum duration: 1 days
Minimum age: 12 (candidates under the age of 16 will be issued with an endorsed certificate)
Course content: An assessment of the candidates ability in launching and recovery, boat handling, securing to a buoy, anchoring, leaving and coming alongside, man overboard
Ability after course: Self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of own limitations and those of the craft
Course Cost includes: Training book, certificate, tea and coffee, buoyancy aids and waterproof jackets for use on course
