Canoeing at the Centre of the Earth

The centre of the earth is not as you may be thinking full of Hobbits and small houses but it is certainly a gem hidden away from too many eyes. The centre belongs to Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust and houses all the facilities a group would need for a day of environmental work. The big plus for us at B-Row is that it is located right on the side of the canal with easy access for canoes.

As a trial event we linked with BBCWTC to provide free canoe trips and the opportunity to find out about some great activities that take part there.

Participants learned about those groovy lines on a canal bridge and the now closed All Saints Insane Asylum and the red flaps on the road bridges – I could tell you all about it but then you would know everything when you came on a tour!!

Following the successful trial we had over 30 people on the water during the day and many began a relationship with the centre of the earth and we hope to see them back at some of our events soon! We hope to be holding more events at the centre over the Summer including Children’s holiday schemes and tours of the canals.
